Artwork

Ella Marolf
Sculptor
Ella Marolf grew up in Montrose, Colorado and after marrying her sweetheart Everett, has lived on the Norwood side of Sanborn Park for the past 60 plus years.
Ella created barnwood and found objects into sculpted pictures of ranching and mining scenes for 35 years before moving on to create doll heads, hands and feet with porcelain clay. She won ribbons at the San Miguel Fair with her dolls dressed in beautiful handmade clothing.
She moved to porcelain pieces that look like bronze statues after a fellow artist in Aspen encouraged her to attend classes at the Loveland Academy of fine arts. Ella states, “it was like unlocking a room” when she took classes there.
Friends at a local art gallery in Montrose encouraged her to place her life size piece called “Girl with Butterfly” on public display, and so it sits at the Montrose Pavilion. Only two pieces from this mold were made due to damage, the second one is in the lobby of the Lone Cone Library.
Using a Loveland foundry she has molds made for her numerous statues. She is very proud of her most recent statue, an early 20th century lineman piece. She continues to create and enjoy local friends and family. She has her artwork on Pinterest and in local galleries.
