Assignments may include:
- Leading programs including Craft Nights, Senior Activities, Story Time for Littles, STEAM and Library Club.
- Assist or backup coverage for Teen Game Night, Movie Night, Book Club, or Early Literacy Programs.
- Developing and delivering new programs with Program Coordinator as funding allows.
- Social Media Development.
- Utilizing technology to take pictures and/or video footage for social media marketing.
- Back-up customer service to circulation desk staff.
Schedule and Salary:
10 to 20 hours per week. Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings and weekends. More hours may be available depending on program growth.
This position’s hiring range is between $15.00 and $18.00, depending on experience.
High School Diploma/GED
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred

The Specialist will:
- Assists in coordinating, planning and executing programming that is educational, entertaining and enriching for youth or adults of all ages.
- Coordinates and delivers adult, teen and outreach programming.
- Supervises and/or monitors attendees of programs.
- Maintains a calm and professional demeanor at all times while engaging with adults, youth, other patrons, and staff. Adheres to customer service guidelines and procedures as established by the Library.
- Promotes literacy and conducts reader’s advisory services for youth.
- Develops and maintains relationships with schools, community groups and agencies in order to leverage services that meet the needs and interests of the community.
- Adopts a connected learning approach to presenting programs, classes and events for youth that educate, inform and inspire.
- Exercises good judgment in enforcing library policies while maintaining positive relations with customers.
- Educate the public regarding the value of the library, services offered and the opportunities to grow those services.
- Delivers or assists with the coordination, set-up and operations of special events and/or projects.
- Contributes to a positive work environment and offers suggestions for improvement.
- Ensures that library policies are followed as they apply to both staff and the public.
- Complies with work scheduling and attendance expectations according to reasonable policy and practice.
- Attends opportunities for job-related training and professional development as the budget allows.

Work is performed in a normal public library environment, working with staff and the general public. Our purpose is to provide an environment that encourages reading and learning by all groups.
To successfully perform this job and to deal with the general public and children, the employee must be able to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, close visual acuity with or without correction, and have the ability to give and receive detailed information through oral communication. The employee is often required to sit and use a keyboard and mouse. The employee is also required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop or kneel in order to locate and obtain information, materials, or equipment of a wide variety of sizes and shapes throughout the library, typically not more than 10 pounds. Must be able to grasp and turn objects. Work includes some physically challenging work such as moving furniture or boxes to storage facilities, not to exceed 50 pounds. Moving books, walking and standing for extended periods, and carrying a reasonable selection of materials between usage and storage sites is mandatory.
