Community Information Display Policy
Community Information Display Policy
In keeping with the Lone Cone Library’s overall philosophy of providing access to a wide range of information sources, the Library provides limited space to display information about local non-profit events and activities. Programs and events publicized in the Library should be compatible with the Library’s purpose of providing educational, civic, cultural, recreational, items of interest, and information services to the community. All displayed and posted items must be in keeping with the mission and values of the Library and should be a benefit to the community. Library and government sponsored events will be given space priority.
Permission shall be given based upon the limitations of display space, the timeliness of the material, and the relevance of the material to the civic, educational, informational, cultural, recreational, or vocational life of the community. The Library will not display personal advertisements, petitions, solicitations, surveys, for-profit, or commercial materials. Political materials may provide non-partisan information on ballot issues and information on non-partisan races.
Authorization for displays and postings will be based upon the provisions of this policy and will not be based upon the viewpoint, beliefs, or affiliations of the non-profit group or the viewpoints expressed in the material. Displaying, posting, or distributing of any such material in the Library does not indicate Library or Board endorsement of the ideas, issues, or events promoted by that material.
Posting on Lone Cone Library social media will be done in-house. The Library may share flyers or posts from all partners (for-profit and non-profit) on social media as long as the for-profit individual/business has created their own advertisement. Lone Cone Library may create and post flyers and displays for non-profit groups and free information to post on our own social media.
